What is PRP?

PRP is plasma with more platelets than usual. Platelets are known for having a central role in hemostasis and tissue healing. Due to this high concentration of platelets, growth factors can be 5 to 10 times greater helping injuries heal faster.

PRP Treatment in Los Gatos

OrthoNorCal is proud to offer PRP Treatment Services at their Los Gatos and Capitola locations. Our providers have expertise in PRP treatment to offer relief from many conditions including chronic tendon injuries, acute ligament and muscle injuries, knee arthritis and fractures.

How does PRP Work?

A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, then put through a ‘soft’ centrifugation process. The activated platelets are injected into the injured area. This releases the growth factors which will increase the number of reparative cells.

Is PRP The Right Treatment for my Injury?

Patients should consult with their physician on whether they’re a good candidate for PRP.
